Frozen-Food-Month-2021

Pro HVAC/R and Pro Green Technologies celebrates National Frozen Food Month, March 2021.

According to the "Power of Frozen 2021" report, released February 18, 2021 by  the American Frozen Food Institute and FMI—the Food Industry Association, 2020 was a great year for frozen food sales.

During the pandemic, consumers visited grocers less often, however they bought more food, much more frozen food.

Seafood (up 35.3%), poultry (up 34.7%), appetizers (up 28.9%) and pizza led the gains in frozen sales.

Frozen foods maintain freshness for long periods of time and have a higher nutritional value.

Most consumers think that all commercial refrigeration freezers are the same.  This, however, is far from the truth. Most freezers require defrost cycles that raises the temperature in the case to remove frost that can build up.  Raising the temperature inside the freezer can raise the temperature of the frozen foods in the freezer.  These temperature swings can actually reduce the quality of the frozen food.

The Frost Free, Grand Cayman, low-temperature chest-style refrigerated display case manufactured by Novum eliminates these temperature swings and maintains the freshness and nutritional value of the frozen food products.

The Grand Cayman is 100% Frost Free because it chills the air and not the sidewalls of the display case.  In addition to being Frost Free, the Grand Cayman, uses the clean natural refrigerant R290 which has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 3, and is 37% more energy efficient than the next in class competitor.

In addition to the Novum chest-style freezer, Novum is preparing to release a vertical, multi-shelf frozen display case called Panama Green this summer.  Visit www.prohvacr.com to learn more about Novum and Pure Cold refrigerated display cases.
